Chervil growing in a garden
Annual herb

Chervil plant profile

Anthriscus cerefolium

An annual herb for partial sun.

When to plant Chervil

Sow chervil seed directly in the garden in spring, or in late fall to germinate the following spring (Illinois). Direct sowing is recommended because seedlings are difficult to transplant, and successive sowings every 3 to 4 weeks keep a fresh supply.

The calendar shows this cited seasonal window as an approximate band. It does not convert the season into frost-adjusted dates.
