Trumpet vine is a vigorous clinging native vine that blooms all summer (NC State: June to September) with red-orange trumpet flowers hummingbirds favor. Plant in spring on a sturdy structure; it blooms on new growth, so early-spring pruning will not affect flowering, and it suckers aggressively, so site it where you can mow runners back.
