When to plant Tufted Hair Grass
Tufted hair grass is a cool-season, semi-evergreen clump-forming perennial grass established by division or seed (it also self-seeds). NC State directs you to cut the old foliage to the ground in late winter before new growth starts, so set out new plants or divisions as that spring growth resumes. It prefers humus-rich, moist to soggy soil and light to moderate shade.
