When to plant Big Blue Liriope
Big blue liriope (lilyturf) is a clump-forming, grass-like evergreen groundcover and edging plant with arching dark green leaves and erect purple flower spikes in late summer to fall (NC State: August to September), followed by black berries that persist through winter. Plant or divide in spring or fall in acidic-to-neutral, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade; water regularly the first year, then cut the old foliage back in late winter before new growth.
