Cilantro growing in a garden

Annual herb

Cilantro plant profile

Coriandrum sativum

An annual herb for full sun.

When to plant Cilantro

Sow seed directly in cool weather, in spring or fall. For a steady supply, plant a fresh batch every 3 to 4 weeks from late spring through fall. Cilantro bolts fast above 80F, so summer plantings do best in a cooler, partly shaded spot.

The calendar shows this cited seasonal window as an approximate band. It does not convert the season into frost-adjusted dates.
